right now i'm sort of into the look of marble as an accent.
this inexpensive cheese tray has the look of carrara without the price and while it's beautiful as a cheese tray, add some brackets and a few of these might make some really beautiful shelves for a small kitchen or bathroom.

i finally get around to properly checking my blog e-mail and this really interesting piece from geoff mcfetridge shows up. it's beautiful (and yes, expensive). i just really love the idea of laser etching on a wood block. i would love to see wood blocks/spheres with not just illustrations, but also patterns burned into them too.

oh what a great new shop i discovered through mav today...
so many nice things
i love this felt baby swing by mohr polster
(oh and the carrier too)

last night, i went to carnegie hall to listen to philip glass and his ensemble play a concert version of his ground-breaking collaboration with robert wilson, the opera einstein on the beach. it really was one of the most amazing concert experiences i've ever had. while i listen to the cd set occasionally and have always been a fan of the work, the music has such a different dimension live. you can hear so much more of the variation and texture. it was such an inspiring evening.
it requires you to truly listen...
